Women leading change in their own communities
In consortium with four other non-profits, ECS supports women and vulnerable groups to take part in social and economic development in peri-urban communities. The project is funded by the European Union and managed by the British Council. It strengthens women’s self-esteem, their voice in school and community planning, and their leadership in traditional decision-making spaces.

AREAS OF WORK
Gender Curriculum in Schools
Training of trainers with teachers and
PTAs, school working groups, and meetings on putting the gender curriculum into practice.
Women's groups and leadership
Setting up local women’s groups, orientation for community leaders, and self-esteem and public speaking sessions
National and international meetings
National Meeting of Rural Women Nigeria and the International Rural Women Conference
Women in public life
Awareness sessions with Baales and civil
society on women’s place in public representation, and public recognition of women for social leadership.
Health and wellbeing
Community self-care awareness programmes and health assessment sessions with talks
Livelihoods and planning
Eco-sustainable alternatives for women’s groups, financial education, a community needs workshop and a community development plan.
